KILSKYRE/MOYLAGH 3-13 Ratoath 1-8

Kilskyre/Moylagh booked their place in the U21 hurling final on Sunday with a very impressive victory over a fancied Ratoath side in Trim.  After ten minutes of this game at two points a piece it looked like a game that would go to the wire, but when the North Meath combination of Kilskyre and Moylagh settled in there was only going to be one winner.  With a superbly taken goal from Luke Nolan and some well taken points from Willie Mc Grath, Kilskyre/Moylagh went in at half time 1-9 to 0-5 ahead.  In the second half the North Meath men started where they left off with Colm Melia in outstanding form at full back with his long clearances to setup scores for Charles Brogan, Willie Mc Grath and Niall Farrelly.  Kilskyre/Moylagh were in top gear with Seanie and Michael Geraghty dominating mid-field throughout and it was Seanie who setup Niall Farrelly for his well taken goal. The game boiled over a few times near the end but when Willie Mc Grath put a 21 yard free into the roof of the net it knocked any intentions of a comeback out of Ratoaths minds.  Best for Kilskyre/Moylagh were in goal with some fine saves was Ciaran Hannon, in front of him the outstanding Colm Melia and well supported by Ewan Feeney, James Baugh, Gary Reilly and Johnathon O'Reilly.  In midfield the Geraghty brothers, whom you could toss a coin to see which of them would get man of the match.  Upfront again the outstanding Willie Mc Grath, well supported by Charles Brogan, Niall Farrelly, Kieran Foley and Luke Nolan.  With a final score of 3-13 to 1-8 Kilskyre/Moylagh go into the final of this U21 B Hurling in great form and with the intentions of going one step further.

The combination of Kilskyre and Moylagh ran out easy winners against Donaghmore Ashbourne in this U21B hurling quarter final in Kells on Sunday morning.  After five minutes it looked like a game that was going to be one way traffic for the hour with domination from the North Meath outfit in every sector of the field.  Again it was the Geraghty brothers, Michael and Seanie who took control throughout and supplied  ball after ball into the superb Willie Mc Grath who took score after score with ease to go in at half time with a 1-6 to 1-0 lead.  In the second half it was more of the same with Ciaran Hannon in goal, Ewan Feeney and Colm Melia mopping up everything in the full back line, James Baugh, Gary Reilly and Johnathan Reilly in the half back all playing solid.  But it was the Geraghty brothers who ran the show in midfield taking some superb scores themselves and setting up the forward division.  Luke Nolan stepped in with 1-1 in the second half along with a superb point from Kieran Foley. Daire Farrelly and Charles Brogan were also in fine form, but it was the Willie Mc Grath show with his tally of 2-7 was a joy to watch.  The North Meath outfit go into the semi-final in fine form with a final score of 3-13 to 1-1.

Scoil Mhuire Moylagh claimed the fourth final on the day, the Girls Division 5 (9 a side) title with a one point win over Newtown NS. It took a last minute point from Sarah Smith to seal the issue in the Moylagh girls favour.

Scoil Mhuire Moylagh 3-4
Newtown 3-3

Four points separted the teams at the interval with Scoil Mhuire holding the advantage 2-3 to 1-2. Megan Doyle and Smith got the winners goals. Points from Erika Duggan and Aoife McNulty along with a fine goal from Ellen Meade accounted for the Newtown first half tally. A goal from Alanna McNulty had the teams level on 2-3 each midway through the second half. Doyle got her second goal for Moylagh but Meade tied up the game again with her second three pointer with minutes remaining. Both teams went in search of the winner and just when it seemed a replay was on the cards Sarah Smith sent over the winner on the stroke of full time.

After the game Scoil Mhuire captain Sarah McNamee was presented with the Division 5 Cup

Scoil Mhuire Moylagh: Jenna Fullam, Grainne Flood, Stephenie McClair, Sarah McNamee, Siobhan Kearney 0-1, Megan Doyle 2-0, Cliodhna Mangan, Yvonne McGivney 0-1, Sarah Smith 1-2.
