Moylagh beat Boardsmill in JHC

E-mail Print PDF

Full time: Moylagh 1-15 Boardsmill 0-16

Moylagh finished the group stages of the junior hurling championship with a win over up till now unbeaten Boardsmill.

It looked a done deal at half time with Moylagh raceing into a 1-10 to 0 - 5 lead.

Paddy Rahill and Morris Quinn were causing Boardsmill all sorts of trouble in the first half will the midfield pair of Eana Brody and Thomas Rahill well on top.

Morris Quinn scored that all important goal and it was needed as Boardsmill came storming back in the second half and with time nearly up the sides were level and a draw looked very likely.

But Moylagh finished strongest and a brace of brilliant points from William McGrath and Quinn gave Moylagh the win that puts them joint top of the group.

This was another fine team performance from the Moylagh boys who now are in at least a semi final.

E-mail Print PDF
Result: Moylagh 2-13 Kilbride 0-04
Moylagh scored their first championship win of the campaign as they put in a strong performance to dispatch Kilbride.
A pre-game downpour meant for tricky underfoot conditions in Bective even though the action took part under bright evening sunshine.
Moylagh played against the breeze in the first half but still went in 6 point to 2 ahead at the break. This was thanks to 2 points from Niall McAlarney and 1 each from Peter Fox,
Eamon Boyle, Aengus Fanning and Eanna Brody. Moyagh will feel this advantage could have been even more if not for some excellent saves by the Kilbride goalkeeper.
Moylagh put the result beyond doubt early in the second half with a couple of quick scores from McAlarney and a fisted goal from Aengus Fanning. Another goal later in the half from Willie McGrath following a good team move was the icing on the cake as Moylagh recorded and impressive victory that secures their Junior status for another year and puts them back in reckoning for a quarter final place.
Best for Moylagh were top scorer Niall McAlarney, Colm Fanning who worked hard in midfield and Peter Fox in defence.
Moylagh team: Declan McCormack, Shane Grall, Shane Brody, Paddy Grall, Kevin Foley, Peter Fox, Eamon Boyle, Danny O’Growney, Colm Fanning, Niall McAlarney, Aengus Fanning, Sean Martin, Thomas O’Reilly, Eanna Brody, William McGrath
