Final Score: Moylagh 1-12 Moynalty 2-07
Venue: Moylagh
Moylagh got back to winning ways as they outscored Moynalty on a warm Monday evening game in Moylagh.
Moylagh started well and raced 3 points clear early. Moynalty struck back with a goal to level the game up after their first score. The home team maintained their momentum however and they remained the better side in the first half; striking with a goal of their own from Declan McCormack after a well worked team move. This goal coupled with 3 points each from Peter Fox and Tommy O’Reilly and one from Niall McAlarney saw Moylagh ahead at the interval 1-7 to 1-2.
The second half was a tighter affair as Moynalty worked hard to get back in the game and managed to level the game with about 10 minutes to go when they bagged a second goal. The drama heightened further as the referee saw fit to send the 2 Ollies (Melia and Murphy) from the dugout & outside the wire. Moylagh dug deep in the final stages and managed to find the scores to record a deserved victory. Again Peter Fox and Tommy O’Reilly were on the scoreboard with 2 points each along with one from Colm Fanning.
Best for Moylagh were joint top scorers Tommy O’Reilly and Peter Fox who enjoyed a very productive evening with 5 pointed frees from the ground. At the back Aaron Hand and Kevin Foley showed well while midfielders Colm Fanning and Danny O’Growney worked hard throughout.
